Worcester, MA- The Nyack Men's Soccer team continued their season with game two against Assumption College. The Warriors found themselves in overtime again and this time securing the win.
The Warriors fired off strong with the first shot of the half by Finn Reese yet finding no success. Following, the Greyhounds would score the first goal of the game at 21:01. Assumption eventually pulled away with the 2-0 lead against the Warriors to end the first half. Both goals were scored by the Greyhounds Forward, Jason Lages.
As the second half proceeded, The Warriors fought hard to answer back with a shot each from Pablo Montes and Finn Reese. Although they were unsuccessful, Nicolas Plaja would assist Alex Garcia to bring the Warriors to their first goal of the game. Their refusal to give up was capitalized on a Nyack corner kick by Nicholas Scarafile, which in turn found itself through to the goal off of Samuel Viau. The Warriors would tie the game with 17 minutes left of the second half. The second period tie lead to overtime.
Francois Legoedec had two shots in the first overtime to possibly end the tie. However, they were both saved by Assumption's goalie, Brian Murray. Within matters of the game ending, Nyack's Nicolas Plaja came in clutch with the assist to Finn Reese. His goal in the first overtime gave the Warrior's a 3-2 victory over the Greyhounds.
The Warriors will debut in their first home game against Saint Rose on September 7th. Kick off begins at 4:00pm.
