Nyack, NY- The Nyack Men's Soccer team hosted the Saint Rose Golden Knights for their 2017 home opener on Thursday afternoon. The Warriors remain undefeated with a 4-2 victory over the Golden Knights.
Saint Rose managed to score the first goal of the half at 30:32, followed by another ten minutes after. Saint Rose, Kyle Clemens assisted by Suleiman Harunya-Iya, had the Knights with the 1-0 edge over the Warriors, while the 2-0 lead before the half for the Knights almost had the Warriors in defeat.
In the second half the Warriors set out on their quest to battle back. Anton Teetzman would take a great first touch down to the goal line after a cross, before finding teammate Alex Garcia, who tapped the ball into the net to cut the lead down to one. The score now at 2-1 in favor of Saint Rose; Nyack would find themselves tied with a goal by Finn Reese at 60:12 in the second half. Reese stole the ball right outside the box and beat the goalkeeper 1-on-1 to find the back of the empty net. The Warriors refused to end with a tie as Finn Reese pulled a Hat-trick to seal the Warriors' victory. His second goal would come from a nice combination on the right side of the box before Alex Garcia found Reese alone in front of the net. Reese's last goal of the day came off a penatly kick. Storm Glautier was pulled down inside the box and Reese finished ice cold into the lower right corner. .
Nyack's Keeper, Alvaro Magel finished the game with 9 saves to ward off the Golden Knights. Finn Reese led the Warrior squad with three goals, while teammate Alex Garcia also stood out with a goal and an assist.
The Warriors will be back to host Dist. of Columbia on September 9th, Saturday, at Nyack High School. Kick off is at 2:00pm.
