Men's Soccer Drops Tough Homecoming Game

Nyack, NY- The Nyack Men's Soccer team captured a huge Homecoming crowd as they faced off with CACC member, Georgian Court. They returned to play on Mosely field after coming off of a win against Felician University and thus putting their conference record to 4-5. Their battle to win another CACC match fell short after playing the Lions and falling short in a 5-3 goal game.

The Lions established their dominance in the first 35 minutes of the game by putting away 2 separate goals by outworking the Warriors with strength and speed of play. In the 5th minute the Lions would score off a through ball to lead the first half with a 1-0 score. The Warriors continued to play evenly before the Lions came back with goal number two of the game off of a deflected shot. Once the team settled into the game and began to pick up the pace of play, the Warriors competed with Black Lions 2-0 deficit through an intercepted ball by Finn Reese. The Warriors now down one goal sought opportunity through a penalty kick that was successful by Reese. His goal before the half allowed the Warriors to gain momentum for the second half.  The first half ended with a score of 2-2.

Anton Teetzmann won a key ball in the box that found teammate Francois Legoedec and through the back of the net to close the score to 3-2. 10 minutes later, Daniel Vicente of Georgian Court was played a long ball and blasted a screamer into the left upper corner of the goal to make the score 3-3. The Lions did apply some pressure at that point, but Goalkeeper Mike Reger made key saves to hold the score. The Lions tallied their fourth goal on great passing through the final third to make the score 4-3. Fifteen minutes later, Alexander Clark for the Lions capitalized off of a corner kick scramble to bring the score to 5-3 and seven minutes left in the game. The Warriors struggled to battle back a dropped to the Lions with a final 5-3 score.

Michael Reger finished the game with 11 saves. Finn Reese led the team with two goals and two shots. Pablo Montes and Francois Legoedec both had one shot attempts each.

The Warriors travel to play in a non-conference match on October 11th against NYIT. Game is set to start at 2:30pm.
