Waterbury, CT - The Nyack College men's soccer team beat the Concordia College Clippers 1-0 in their last regular season and Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match. The Warriors needed a victory in order to secure their spot in the CACC playoffs.
The Warriors would score the lone goal of the match in the 10th minute, when Davide Alessio took a shot from 20 yards out to test the Clippers' goalkeeper, who saved the initial shot but was beaten by Finn Reese who netted the rebound for his 16th goal of the season. The score remained unchanged during the rest of the first half. Nyack outshot the Clippers by a margin of 8-7 in an otherwise failry even contest. Sophomore goalkeeper Alvaro Magel recorded two saves in the first period.
The second frame featured seven corner kicks (3-4) and twelve total shots (6-6). Nyack had a 14-13 advantage in shots over 90 minutes, while Magel finished the day with four saves.
Nyack will now face either Jeffernson University or Goldey-Beacom College in the CACC Championship Quarterfinals on Monday, October 30th.
