Head Coach Latia Deylii and the Warriors coaching staff are excited to announce the signing of Thabo Ngwenya, to an NCAA National Letter of Intent.
Ngwenya, born and raised in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe to the parents of Morris and Thecla Ngwenya, has been running for the past five years under coaches Simba Dangah and O. Khumalo of Christian Brothers High School (CBC).
At CBC Ngwenya ran cross country, the 1500m, and 3000m for track and field. As a two-sport athlete at Nyack, Ngwenya will be part of the first recruiting class for the newly added Warrior Track program kicking off Spring of 2016.
During his high school career, Ngwenya has been part of taking his team to both first and second place at the in the Inter Schools Athletics Championship. Other accolades include his induction to the National Society of High School Scholars (NSHSS). Ngwenya has two sibblings, enjoys swimming, and listening to music. Ngwenya is also a member of the Harvest House International Church where he sings in a choir called "Hosanna."
Ngwenya looks forward to leaving Africa for the first time to embark on his collegiate journey: "I chose Nyack College because of the friendly staff, it is a Christian school with a scenic location, and for the opportunity to be part of a new track program," stated Ngwenya. "My goals are to be in leadership and work with my teammates to make Nyack cross country and track more competitive." Ngwenya will enter the upcoming school year as an Accounting major.
