Head Coach Latia Deylii and the Warriors coaching staff are excited to announce the signing of Joseph Girard, to an NCAA National Letter of Intent for Men's Cross Country and Track.
Girard, born in Schenectady, NY currently lives in Glenville, NY with his sister Hannah and parents Marylou and Joe Girard Sr. His family attends Fruitful Vine Christian Church.
As an eight-year runner, Girard has served as a three-sport athlete on the Spartan cross country, indoor, and outdoor track teams all four years of his Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High School career.
Academically, Girard was an Honor Roll student while athletically contributing to several team championships as a varsity athlete under the instruction of Coach Chip Button: 2x Sectional Cross Country Championship, 3x Indoor Track Sectional Championship, and 2x Outdoor Track Sectional Championship titles. Individually he has won several freshman awards including Most Improved, Most Valuable Runner, Coaches Awards, and was a 3x Spartan Award recipient.
Girard has taken part in Missions trips to Ecuador and Mexico and served as a volunteer leader at the Young Life/WyldLife organization. He enjoys various outdoor sports such as hiking, rock climbing, and canoeing. At Nyack, Girard looks forward to his major in Intercultural Studies.
"The staff and campus is quite nice," states Girard. "I chose Nyack because I felt God leading me there. I am excited to be a student there and I hope to be one of the top runners as I aim to run under 26:00 for my 8k."

Having run some strong 5k times in the past, I can definitely see Joe contributing to more team success here on the men's side for cross country while making his future mark on our new track program as well."
