Coach Derival enters into his second year as Head Coach of the Nyack College Cross Country program and Track & Field program. Prior to serving as Head Coach, Derival served as an assistant coach for two years at Nyack.
In the 2016 Cross Country Season under the direction of Coach Derival, the Men and Women finished 4th in the CACC. Both, the Men’s and the Women’s team have seen multiple all conference and all academic selections during his tenure.
Derival graduated from Nyack College with a Bachelor’s of Arts in Social Work and competed on the Cross Country team for three years posting some of the fastest times for the Running Warriors since the 70’s. Some of Derival’s accomplishments include Rookie of the Year (2011), Coaches Award (2012), Runner of the Year (2013), and CACC Honorable mention (2013). He is also a USATF Level 1 Certified Coach.
Derival continues to compete in road races and marathons across the U.S. In 2016 he placed 4th overall out of 1,978 competitors in the Upper Saddle River 5k finishing the course in 17:08 and he finished 3rd overall at the South Nyack Ten Miler in 1:01:56. In 2015 he finished 6th overall in the Frozen Bonsai Half in 1:21:37 and this past summer placed 33rd out of 9,836 in the Human Rock N’ Roll Chicago Half, finishing the course in 1:20:33.
