Dominy Leads Men’s Cross Country at NCAA Regionals

NASHUA, NH - The Nyack College men's cross country squad concluded their 2014 campaign at a loaded field that featured 191 of the most elite competitors at the NCAA Division II East Region Championship.

The Warriors concluded their long season on Saturday November 22nd finishing as a team in 24th place from a field of 31 schools at the Mine Falls Park course in Nashua, NH.

East Region institutions from the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC), the East Coast Conference (ECC), and the Northeast-10 Conference (NE-10) took part in the 10k championship and fielded twenty-eight complete teams. Eight of those schools represented the CACC.

American International College captured the team title with 33 points while Stonehill College finished at 90. The third qualifier was Roberts Wesleyan College, with a score of 95 to round out the Top-3 finishing teams who will move on to represent the East at the NCAA National Championship on Dec. 6 in Louisville, KY at Tom Sawyer State Park.

Sophomore Nathaniel Dominy (Christiansburg, VA), for the first time this season, clocked the best time for the Warriors, finishing the 10k course in 34:40.54. Fellow sophomore Mateusz Gacik (Mysliborz, Poland) finished shortly after with a final of 35:23.42. Freshman Thomas Trott (Frederick, MD) was the next Running Warrior to cross the finish line, ending his day with a clocking of 35:54.43 while teammate Philip Strangolagalli (Long Island, NY) and Anatoliy Ivantchouk (Moscow, Russia) rounded out the fifth and sixth Nyack team positions in 45:41.87 and 47:26.62 respectively.

Mike Biwott from American International earned the individual region championship title with a winning time of 30:34.67 from a complete field of 191 runners.
