Warriors softball debuted their 2016 season with two matches in Clermont, Florida as part of "The Spring Games".  Today, Nyack faced Findlay University at 5 pm and Ferris State at 7pm.  In their first match of the day, Nyack fell 7-0 in a seven inning battle.  Immediately after, the Warriors switched fields to face Ferris State.  The match would conclude in five innings with a final score of 10-1.

Freshman catcher Katie Lupinacci (Bordentown, NJ) earned the lone hit of Nyack's first game, a single to right field, only to be thrown out in the next play off a fielder's choice.  Findlay's defense opted to remove the lead runner countless times, preventing the Warriors from advancing past 1st base for the entirety of the match.  Nyack left 1 man on base in three separate innings due to Findlays aggressive fielder's choice defense.  In an impressive third inning rally, Findlay earned 6 of their 7 runs through a grand slam, a walk with loaded bases, and a strategic single to right field bringing the runner home.  Findlay would score their final run in the fifth inning off of a passed ball.  The game would conclude with a final score of 7-0 in the 7th inning.

Left fielder freshman Alissa Brugnoli (Hamilton, NJ) notched the sole hit of Nyack's match against Ferris State, simultaneously tallying her first collegiate home run.  Ferris emerged strong, earning 1 run in the first inning before capitalizing upon opportunities in the second inning to score 7 runs off of 5 hits, including a grand slam.  Ferris would add an additional home run in the 4th inning, as well as a double in the bottom of the 5th resulting in 2 RBI's to bring the game to a 10-1 conclusion.

Nyack will return to "The Spring Games" tomorrow, Saturday March 5th, to play two more matches at Legends Way Park.  Their first game is against Northern State University at 3pm.  The second game, against Winona State will commence at 7pm.
