Warriors Battle Through Second Day of "The Spring Games" Tournament

The Warriors continued their spring training with two matches on Saturday March 6th at 5pm and 7 pm.  The non-conference games took place at a satellite location as part of The Spring Games tournament in Clermont, FL. 

Nyack Softball sported 6 hits in their match against Northern State University as their first game on Saturday March 6th.  Despite their progress in offense, the Warriors were 3 runs shy of victory losing the match with a final score of 6-3.

Freshman left fielder Alissa Brungoli (Hamilton, NJ) led the Warrior lineup earning 1 hit, 1 RBI and scoring once. Sophomore Kylie Brase (San Diego, CA) went 2-2 in the match earning 1 RBI.  Freshamn Katie Lupinacci (Bordentown, NJ) wrapped up the RBI's for Nyack bringing herself around the bases with her 2nd home run of the Warrior season.  Northern University capitalized on 10 hits scoring 6 runs to close the match with a final score of 6-3.

Nyack moved to their second match of the day to face Winona State.  Nyack procured 2 hits for the game, failing to earn a run.  Sophomores Katalina Padilla (Las Cruces, NM) provided one hit for the Warriors, a single to left field, while Aferdita Sinanaj (Tappan, NY) added the second hit, a single to right field, in the bottom of the 5th inning.  Winona gained momentum in the 7th inning breaking the 0-0 tie and earning all 7 of their runs to seal the victory over Nyack.  The Warriors were unable to add a run to the scoreboard in their final appearance, bringing the game to a concluding score of 7-0 in favor of Winona State.

Up Next:

Nyack returns to action with two games on Sunday March 6th.  The first match is scheduled to begin at 5 PM against Mount Olive.  The second match will commence immediately following at 7 PM against Indiana (Pa.).
