The Nyack College Women's Softball team hosted the visiting Georgian Court University (GCU) Lions as their home opener of the 2016 season.  The double header also marked the first Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match of the year for both teams.  The day concluded with a division of victories between the Lions and the Warriors.

Game 1 extended the standard 7 innings with 2 innings of overtime, forcing the International Base Runner into play; proving to change the outcome of the game.  Graduate student Meghan Richards (Nanuet, NY) led the Warriors with 2 hits out of 4 at bats.  Adding to the offense, freshman Alissa Brugnoli (Hamilton, NJ) and freshman Victoria Triozzi (Branchburg, NJ) each stole a base to garner some pressure on the infield, eventually earning a run.

After 5 scoreless innings, GCU earned the first tally on the score board off of a single to left field.  Freshman Katie Lupinacci (Bordentown, NJ) responded quickly and brought in Triozzi off of a single through the middle of the field to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th.  When neither team was able to find home plate in the 7th the game extended through the 9th inning.  GCU, in the top of the 9th, bunted a runner in from 3rd to break the tie.  The Warriors were unable to bring a runner in resulting in a concluding score of 2-1 in favor of the Lions.

The Warriors stormed into game 2 reading the Lion's lefty pitcher right off the bat.  Richards went 2 for 3 during the second match earning 1 run and 1 RBI.  Sophomore designated player Katalina Padilla (Las Cruces, NM) went 1 for 2 at bats earning 1 RBI.  The remaining two RBI's were earned on sacrifice plays by freshman pitcher Kylie Brase (San Diego, CA) and sophomore shortstop Aferdita Sinanaj (Tappan, NY).  Nyack culminated 4 runs to the Lions 1, resulting in the first CACC victory for the Warriors.
