Softball splits on Day 5 of Spring Break Play

Clermont, FL - The Nyack College Softball teams collected its first win of the season with a 9-0 after five innings over Fisher College. The Warriors lost game one of the day against Notre Dame (Ohio) with 2-0. 

Game one saw Notre Dame go ahead in the bottom of the first. Notre Dame homered with a runner at second base to take the early 2-0 lead. The game would remain without any further scores in the remaining six innings, which ended with a score of 2-0 in favor of Notre Dame.

The Nyack College Softball team would earn its first win of the season in game two of the day. Nyack found itself with bases loaded early in the bottom of the first, when Morgan Hans was hit by the pitch, which moved Aferdita Sinanaj home to score the first Warrior run of the day. Katie Lupinacci was up at bat and singled down the left field line to bring Alissa Brugnoli home. Brittany Blair would ground out to the first baseman, which allowed Nicole Wisser to find her way to home base, 3-0. Bases were still loaded and Saran Spindel was walked to Morgan Hans to home base. Nyack was up 4-0 at the bottom of the first. 

Bases were loaded again in the bottom of the second when Blair was walked. Morgan Hans made her way to home base to score th fifth Warrior run of the day. 

Nyack had two runners on bases in the bottom of the third, when Nicole Wisser stepped up to bat. She grounded out to first base, but allowed Alissa Brugnoli and Sarah Spindel to run home, 7-0.

NYack would round up its scoring in the bottom of the fourth. Kayleigh VanDover brought Katie Lupinacci home with a sacrifice bunt, before Sarah Spindel singled and allowed Brittany Blair to move to home base, 9-0. 

Up next: Nyacl will be back in action today for their final day of their Spring Break Trip when play against Southwest Minn. St at 1:00pm and Findlay at 3:30pm.
