Nyack, NY - The Nyack College women's softball team won both its games against the Post University Eagles in yesterday's CACC doubleheader played at the South Orangetown Little League Complex. The Warriors finished the day with scores of 5-3 and 3-0, which improves their record to 4-20 overall and 3-5 in CACC play.
Post opened up the scoring with a homerun in the top of the third inning, before Nyack went on a five-run stretch in the bottom of the third. Nicole Wisser doubled to center field, which allowed Katie Lupinacci and Alissa Brugnoli to reach home base. Nyack had two runners on base when Aferdita Sinanaj homered to give Nyack a 5-1 lead.
The Eagles scored another run in the top of the fourth and the top of the sixth to cut the Warrior lead to two, 5-3. But Nyack would hold on to the lead to seal the win in game one with a final score of 5-3.
Nyack would score one more in the bottom of the fourth, which concluded the scoring of the day for game two. Katalina Padilla scored after a Kayleigh Vandover double.
Nicole Wisser led the Warriors from the mount with the shutout, while she gave up one run and struck out one batter.
Up next: Nyack will be back on Saturday, when they travel to NJ to take on the Georgian Court Golden Lions in a CACC doubleheader. First pitch is slated for 11 am.
