Softball upended by Georgian Court Lions in CACC Doubleheader

Lakewood, NJ - The Nyack College women'st softball team lost both games in Saturday's doubleheader against the Georgian Court University Lions. Both games ended after five innings with scores of 16-4 and 8-0. The losses drop the Warrior's record to 4-22 overall and 3-7 in CACC play. 

Game One

Nyack got on the scoreboard first in the top of the first inning. Nicole Wisser homered with Alissa Brugnoli on base to give the Warriors an early 2-0 lead.

Georgian Court would tie the game with two scored runs in the bottom of the third inning, before Nyack jumped back ahead with four scored runs in the top of the fourth. Katalina Padilla homered with Sarah Spindel on base, before Alissa Brugnoli scored after a Katie Lupinacci double to right field. Lupinacci then would go on to score as well after a Stephanie White single to give Nyack the 6-2 lead. But Georgian Court would burst into an eight-run inning in the bottom of the fourth to take over control in the game.

They would score another four runs in the bottom of the fifth to seal the 16-4 victory. 

Game Two

Nyack was unable to score any runs in game two, while the Lions scored runs in the second, third, fourth, and fifth inning to earn a 8-0 victory in game two. 

Up next: Nyack will be back in action on Monday, when they travel to Pennsylvania to take on East Stroudsburg University. First pitch is slated for 2:00 pm.
