Softball Splits with Georgian Court Lions
The Nyack College softball team hosted Georgian Court University on Saturday, winning the first game 10-2 and losing the second 9-1 to split the conference doubleheader.

In the first game, the Lions led off the scoring in the top of the second inning, gaining one run off of a Warriors error. GCU threatened to score again in the next inning with a runner on third, but the Warriors got three quick outs to move on without allowing a run. In the bottom of the fourth, Aferdita Sinanaj sparked Nyack's offense with a lead off solo home run. Morgan Hans then got on base with a single and Nicole Wisser followed with a double to set up Katalina Padilla, who drove in two runs with a double. Stephanie White singled and moved Padilla into scoring position, who was brought home for a run on Katie Lupinacci's sacrifice fly. Erin O'Brien stepped up next and hit one over the fence for a 2-run home run, as the Warriors finished the inning with 6 runs. GCU added a single score in the top of the fifth, but Nyack continued to add on the runs in the bottom of the fifth. Aferdita Sinanaj and Nicole Wisser both singled and then advanced into scoring position on a wild pitch. Katalina Padilla brought home Sinanaj with an RBI single, and Stephanie White immediately followed by bringing in Wisser for another score on an RBI single. Katie Lupinacci reached on a fielder's choice and Erin O'Brien was walked to load the bases for Gabrielle Placencia, who was walked to bring in another score. Alissa Brugnoli then drew another walk for a final Nyack score, and the Warriors ended the game in 5 innings with a 10-2 win.

In the second game, GCU again started the scoring with a solo home run in the top of the first, and added two more runs in the top of the second. In the bottom of the second, Aferdita Sinanaj singled and then was brought in for a score on Morgan Hans' following double. The Lions scored three more times in the top of the fourth, and Nyack put a runner in scoring position in the bottom of the fourth as Nicole Wisser doubled but was not brought home. GCU added three more runs in the top of the fifth. In the bottom of the fifth, the Warriors had two runners on base to try to mount a comeback with two outs, but a lineout ended the game in 5 innings in a 9-1 Nyack loss.

Katalina Padilla led the Warriors with 3 RBIs, and Erin O'Brien recorded 4 combined hits. Nicole Wisser pitched the whole first game for Nyack, and Brittany Blair started the second game.

Up next, the Warriors travel to Chestnut Hill on Monday 4/9 with games at 2:30PM and 4:30PM.
