Softball Completes First Sweep of the Season Against Bridgeport
The Nyack College softball team traveled to Bridgeport in a non-conference doubleheader, as the Warriors swept the day with two wins, 7-5 in extra innings and 7-1.

In the first game, Katie Lupinacci walked in the top of the first and advanced to second on Alissa Brugnoli's single, and then brought in the first run of the game on Aferdita Sinanaj's RBI double. Bridgeport pulled ahead with two runs in the bottom of the second, but Nyack took back the lead in the bottom of the third with two runs of their own. Erin O'Brien reached on a fielder's choice and advanced to second on Katie Lupinacci's single, then scored on Alissa Brugnoli's RBI single. Brugnoli then attempted a steal and was thrown out, but not before Lupinacci crossed the plate to give the Warriors the lead. Bridgeport again pulled ahead with two runs in the bottom of the third, which Nyack tied up with Gabrielle Placencia's RBI single to bring in Morgan Hans in the top of the sixth. Bridgeport took the lead one last time with a run in the bottom of the sixth. In the top of the seventh, Alissa Brugnoli walked to get on base with two outs, and Aferdita Sinanaj delivered with an RBI triple to tie the game and send it into extra innings. Neither team scored in the eighth inning, but in the top of the ninth, Kayleigh VanDover reached third and Erin O'Brien stole second to put two runners in scoring position - and both were brought home on Katie Lupinacci's 2-RBI double. Nyack held off Bridgeport in the bottom of the ninth to earn a 7-5 win in extra innings.

In the second game, the Warriors took control right away in the top of the first. Erin O'Brien singled and advanced to second on an error, moving to third as Katie Lupinacci also reached on an error. Alissa Brugnoli reached on a fielder's choice and drove in O'Brien for the run, and Lupinacci was brought in immediately after on Aferdita Sinanaj's RBI double. Morgan Hans cleaned up with a 3-run homer in the next at-bat to give Nyack a 5-0 lead. The Warriors added a run to their lead in the top of the fourth as Kayleigh VanDover doubled and then scored on Erin O'Brien's RBI single. Bridgeport scored a run in the bottom of the sixth, but Nyack cemented their lead with a final run in the top of the seventh on Alissa Brugnoli's RBI single, and the Warriors claimed the 7-1 victory and the sweep.

Morgan Hans and Aferdita Sinanaj led the Warriors with 3 RBIs each, and Erin O'Brien had 5 combined hits for the day. Brittany Blair pitched both games for Nyack to earn two wins.
