The Nyack College Softball team faced off on home field in a double header against the Domincan College Chargers. The Warriors split with Dominican winning their first game 2-1 and losing the second game 4-5.
The warriors opened scoring in the bottom of the third inning when Erin O'Brien doubled to left center helping Kayleigh VanDover reach home. The Warriors scored their second point of the game also in the third inning when Alissa Brugnoli singled to center field advancing Janelle Adams to second and bringing Erin O'Brien home.
Nyack once again opened scoring for the second game in the bottom of the first inning when Alissa Brugnoli hit a gorund ball advancing Erin O'Brien to third helping Krissy Johnson score the first point of the game. Nyack continued at this pace and scored their second point in the bottom of the second inning when Krissy Johnson singled to left field advancing Katie Lupinacci to second. Both girls then advanced bases on the next throw bringing Arielys Rodriguez home. In the top of the 4th and 5th innings, Domincan scored all five of their total points for the game, one of which was off a wild pitch. In the bottom of the sixth inning, Krissy Johnson and Erin O'Brien earn the last two points of the game for Nyack, only falling short by one point.
In the first game, Erin O'Brien had three at bats and one hit. She scored one run for the warriors and assisted her team in another run with an RBI. In the second game, Krissy Johnson had four at bats where she had three hits and scored a total of two runs for the warriors she helped earn one more point for the warriors with an RBI.
The Nyack College Softball team will compete away in a conference double header against Holy Family Saturday March 30th at 12 and 2PM.
