Warriors Softball Clinches Playoff Spot Despite Loss to Chestnut Hill in Last Game of Conference Play

The Nyack College Warriors Softball team faced off in a home conference double header against Chestnut Hill University. The Lady Warriors commended their seniors as it was their last home game of the season. The seniors honored were Alissa Brugnoli, Kayleigh VanDover, Brittany Blair, Stephanie White, Morgan Hans, Katie Lupinacci and Gabrielle Placencia

Game 1: 

Chestnut Hill started off the scoring in the third inning with a homerun hit. In the 4th inning, Chestnut Hill hit another homerun bringing in 3 RBIs for their team. In the bottom of the 5th inning, Nyack put themselves on the scoreboard when Stephanie White hit a sacrifice fly to right field bringing home Morgan Hans. The Warriors lost this game with a final score of 4-1 Chestnut Hill. 

Game 2: 

Chestnut Hill began the scoring in the second inning, with two homerun hits and ground out to second base the Griffins managed to score four runs in this inning. Nyack put themselves on the scoreboard when Stephanie White grounded out to short stop bringing home Morgan Hans. In the third inning Nyack dominated the scoreboard. Krissy Johnson doubled to center field bringing home Arielys Rodriguez. Janelle Adams then doubled to center field earning 2 RBIs for her team and tieing up the game at 4-4. Katie Lupinacci then hit a homerun also bringing in 2 RBIs for her team and putting Nyack ahead of Chestnut Hill. The Griffins came back and scored four runs off a single and a double hit. In the 5th inning, the Griffins hit a homerun earning 2 RBIs. Scoring ended in the 7th inning when the Griffins hit a single to left center ending the game with a loss for the Warriors and a final score of 12-6 Chestnut Hill. 

Key Performances: 

Katie Lupinacci, a senior, went 2 for 3 with 1 run scored and 2 RBIs.

The Warriors will face off with the Wilmington University Wildcats as part of the CACC Spring Championship on Thursday, May 2nd.
