Lakewood, NJ - The Nyack College softball team was back in action on Friday to compete on day two of the CACC Spring Championship hosted by Georgian Court University.
The Warriors squared off with the Post University Eagles in another elimination game. Post got on the scorebaord first, but the Warriors scored three runs in the top of the third inning. Krissy Johnson scored off a Erin O'Brien double, O'Brien scored off a Janelle Adams' single, and Adams scored off a Morgan Hans single to give Nyack a 3-1 lead.
The Eagles came back in the bottom of the 5th to score six runs to move ahead 7-3. But the Warriors were not done yet scoring three runs each in the top of the 6th and the 7th inning to stay alive on day two.
In the second game of the day the Warriors squared off with the Jefferson University Rams for another elimination game. The game was dominated by great pitching and defensive efforts on both sides, resulting in a scoreless game after seven innings. Both teams were unable to find the go-ahead run in the first two extra innings. The Rams eventually broke the deadlock with the game winning run in the top of the 10th to eliminate the Warriors and move to the Championship round the following day.
Nyack finished the season with an impressive run finishing fourth in their first post-season appearance of their NCAA era. As a result of their great performances Janelle Adams and Erin O'Brien were named to the CACC Softball All-Tournament Team
