Softball Goes 0-2 on Day Three of Spring Games

Auburndale, FL - The Nyack College softball team was back in action for another pair of games. The Warriors fell 0-2 to Minn. State Moorhead and 2-16 to Rockhurst, dropping their overall record to 1-5.

Game 1 vs. Minn. St. Moorhead, 0-2

Both team struggled to get going throughout the first three innings. Minn. St. Moorhead got the go ahead run in the bottom of fourth and added another in the bottom of the sixth for the final score of 0-2. Janelle Adams led Nyack in game one with two hits, including a double.

Game 2 vs. Rockhurst, 2-16 '

Rockhurst got up by three in the top of the first. Nyack answered right back in the bottom of the second with a pair of runs. Alyssa Giampolo and Jayna Celano both singled. Kelly Rattigan replaced Giampolo as a pinch runner and advanced to third, as Celano was thrown out at second, with Izzy Murillo reaching first fielder's choice. A double by Makensie Miller to center field drove Rattigan and Murillo home to get Nyack within one. 

Rockhurst scored a run in the top of the third and added another 4 runs in the top of the 4th to run away with the game. The Hawks scored another 8 runs in the top of the 5th to finish the game off with a final score of 2-16. 

Up next: The Warriors will enjoy a day off and will be back on Thursday to take on Salem and California University of PA.
