Women’s Basketball Falls To Post 80-61

WATERBURY, C.T. (Jan. 10, 2013) Women's basketball took on 2nd in the North Division, Post University (8-7, 7-2) in a CACC match-up last night where they lost 80-61.

Nyack came out strong leading for the first 4 minutes until Hailey Griffen of Post U dropped a 3-pointer giving the Lady Egles their first lead of the half 10-12. Ashley Tallman would respond with a layup to tie the contest. Post continued to pull away ending the 1st half leading by 7 points to essentially put the victory on ice.

In the start of the 2nd Post was fortunate enough to score 16 consecutive points before Tallman nailed 2 free throws, scoring the first baskets of the half for the Warriors at 11:23.

The Nyack Warriors shot better from the free throw line 75% - while post shot 68%. However the case, it was not enough to contest with the Lady Egles, as they continued to stretch the lead. The final score showed 80-61.

Lead scorer, Jessica Webber, for Post University was 7-12, 2-4, 4-6 and totaled 20 points.

Three Warriors would put up double digits in scoring last night. Senior, Khamari Tellis, lead the ladies in a team high of 16 points, 11 rebounds, and 4 blocks. Freshman, Jamie McKeither trailed in scoring with 14 points. In addition, McKeither also pulled down 7 rebounds, 1 steal, and a block while Junior, Ashley Tallman put up 10 buckets.

Nyack returns to action facing Concordia in another CACC matchup on Saturday January 12th. The 1pm contest will be held on their campus in Bronxville, New York
