Concordia Takes Down Nyack, 80-60 For Women's Basketball
BRONXVILLE, N.Y. – (Jan. 12, 2013) The Nyack Women's Basketball Team took on Concordia in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) North Division game on Saturday afternoon.
Nyack would jump out to an early 6-0 lead but Concordia responded with six unanswered points of their own to tie the score. The Clippers would slowly open up a lead midway through the half as a 6-0 run gave Concordia a 31-22 advantage with 5:28 left in the period. The Clippers would end the final 2:30 with three three-point baskets to end the half with a 45-37 lead.
In the second half Concordia would keep a double-digit lead as the Warriors could not cut into the deficit. The Clippers used a 12-3 run which included back-to-back three-point baskets to hold a 68-51 advantage with 8:00 left. Concordia would use their strong free-throw shooting late in the game to seal an 80-60 victory.
Ashley Tallman led Nyack with a game-high 21 points on 5-of-12 shooting. Tallman would pull down 5 rebounds and shot an astonishing 7-7 from the free throw line. Rachel Burnett and Khamari Tellis would both add 9 points while Tellis also notched a game high of 11 rebounds.
Nyack will have home court advantage during another CACC matchup against Felician College on Tuesday January 15th. The 6pm contest will take place at Bowman Gymnasium in Nyack, New York.
