Khamari Tellis Drops 30 In Losing Effort To Georgian Court
LAKEWOOD, N.J. (Jan. 26, 2013) – The Lady Warriors took a tough loss yesterday to 5thranked in the CACC South Division, Georgian Court University, 56-71.
In the losing effort, senior, Khamari Tellis, averaging 12 points a game, would score a season-high of 30 including 11 rebounds and 2 blocks.
Nyack came out strong leading in the first period 10-3. By 11:24 the Lady Lions took their first lead of the game and had gained a 6-14 run following the next five minutes. Buy halftime GCU would be up by 10 points.
Attempting to carry the team back from the deficit, Tellis put up a big second half, with 12 buckets in 5 minutes of play. She totaled 17 points from this period alone, however with GCU shooting 40% from the field and Nyack at 31% the Warriors were never able to get relieved from the double digit lead. GCU sustained their stretch resulting in a final score of 56-71.
Freshman, Rachel Burnett put up 10 points and 8 boards while Brianna Taylor lead a game high of 5 assist respectively.
Nyack plays Bloomfield College next on Tuesday, January 29th at home in Bowman Gymnasium.
