NYACK, NY (November 13, 2013)
In the first home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match of the 2013 campaign, Nyack College women's basketball would drop a decision to the Lady Falcons giving them their first win on the year. The final score reflected 58-52.
Felician began the 1st half with an early12-4 lead and eventually Nyack would battle their way back tying the game at 14 a piece with 12:13 remaining following a three-point basket by Junior Audrey Matteson (Monticello, IN).
The Warriors were unable to take the lead as the score was tied up again at 16 each until the Lady Falcons took advantage of an 11-0 run to give them an 11 point lead by 5:55. Going into the locker room break Nyack slowly caught up as the ladies only trailed by three points, 29-26.
In the 2nd half Felician continued to maintain a lead and Nyack would keep battling to keep the deficit around 5 points. Junior guard Mariah Brown (Stockton, CA) knocked down a three to give the Warriors their first lead of the half, 45-43.
Eleven seconds later Felician knocked down a pair of free throws to tie back the game 45-45 by 8:12. Over the next few possessions Nyack struggled with getting the ball in the hoop, as the Falcons would go on to take the 58-52 victory.
Trina Plummer led the Lady Falcons to victory with 15 points.
Women's basketball play next on Friday November 15th for the first round of the 1st Annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament hosted by Dominican College as Nyack takes on STAC at 7:30pm.
