ORANGEBURG, NY (November 16, 2013)
The Warriors women's basketball team traveled to Dominican College to finish out day two of the 1st annual Regina Rivera Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Chargers.
Nyack, who hasn't won a game yet, captured their first victory of the season against Molloy this afternoon following a 77-68 victory at the Hennessey Center.
The Lady Warriors would grab an early 0-9 advantage in the opening minutes as Molloy stuck around in the first half. After the Lions tied the match a total of three times at 7:04, Molloy would capture their first lead on the night and attempt to slip away.
An 8-3 Nyack run in the final three and a half minutes of play gave the Warriors a 33-31 trail going into the locker room break.
In the second half Molloy would lead by as many as six points but Nyack rallied off ten unanswered points to take control of the scoreboard. The Lady Warriors regained their lead 46-50 with 11:12 left to spare and would maintain the effort for the duration of the game, en route the 68-77 win.
Three Warriors recorded double digits, Audrey Matteson scored a game high 30 points. Matteson also added 5 rebounds, 4 assists, 2 steals in 35 minutes of action while Jamie McKeither added 12 points and Brandone Roberts tallying 10 points. Meghan Richards recorded a game-high 7 rebounds on the afternoon.
Nyack (1-4, 0-1 CACC) will travel next to Post University on Wednesday November 20th for a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up. Game time is set for a 6pm start.
