WATERBURY, CT (November 20, 2013)
The Nyack women's basketball team traveled to face Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opponent Post University on Wednesday evening.
The Warriors would drop their fifth game of the season after the Eagles took an 82-93 victory at the Drubner Center.
Post took charge right from the start gaining their first double digit lead by the 16:34 mark that that eventually extended to an 8-34 Eagle lead. Trailing for the remainder of the period, by halftime the score reflected 27-50.
Nyack had a much stronger 2nd half, outscoring their opponents 55-43. Ten unanswered Warrior baskets brought the Nyack team to trail 42-52. By 1:49 Nyack cut the deficit to six points with a layup by Warrior Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD).
That was the closest Nyack would get as 0-7 Eagle run allowed Post to further extend their lead (77-90). With under a minute to go Jessica Logemann (Seminole, FL) drained a three-pointer shifting the score to a ten point game (80-90), however not be enough time would be on the clock as Post walked away with the 82-93 victory.
Two-time CACC Honorable Mention, Audrey Matteson (Monticello, IN) led the Lady Warriors with 20 points and a game-high 5 assists while teammates McKeither and Brandone Roberts (Jessup, MD) split 16 points and 8 rebounds a piece to tally season bests on the year.
Senior Ashley Tallman (Rotterdam, NY) chipped in with her first double digits on the year with 14 points respectively.
Nyack (1-5, 0-2 CACC) takes the court again Saturday, November 23rd at home against Queens College. First tip is set for 5pm. Everyone attending basketball games this Saturday is encouraged to bring canned and nonperishable food items, toiletries, new socks, hats, or gloves which will be collected by students at the admissions gate. Those who bring donations will be given FREE admission to the game.
