Warrior Women's Basketball Cruise to 75-53 Victory at Post

WATERBURY, CT - The Nyack College women's basketball team rode it's depth to a 75-53 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) win over Post University at the Drubner Center. 

Two Warriors scored in double-figures and exploded for career-highs as both Raven Makins (Laurel, MD) and Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD) registered 27 points. McKeither would also add a career-best sixteen rebounds to tally her fifth double-double on the season.

The loss drops Post to 5-8 in league play while the Warriors improve to 3-11 in the conference.

Nyack was held scoreless for the first eight minutes of play before McKeither scored a jumpshot to bring the score to 10-2 by the 12:25 mark. Lindsey Williams (Columbia, MD) would spark a 10-0 Nyack run to eventually tie to contest 14-14 by 5:13 and as the half came to a close, Post would trail 26-25.

During the second half Post struggled shooting, hitting just 25-percent (9-of-36) from the field and converting only 45.5-percent (5-of-11) from the free throw line. The Lady Warriors were 55.6-percent from the floor including 88.9-percent (8-of-9) from behind the charity stripe.

Nyack never looked back as the team outscored the Eagles 49-28 in the second half and by the end of regulation would walk away with the 75-53 decision.

As a team the Warriors outrebounded Post 64-40, dished more assists (8), while taking care of the rock in the paint to score 42 points compared to Post only registering 8 points from inside. The Eagles forced twenty-seven turnovers while scoring 20 points from the Nyack turnovers while Nyack forced twenty turnovers and recorded 26 points from Post turnovers. 

Alyssa Gatti (Brooklyn, NY) dished a game-high five assists for Nyack while Lexus Childs-Harris led Post with two assists and a team-best nine rebounds on the afternoon. Deasia Aklin led the Eagles with 14 points.
