Warriors Women's Basketball closed out day two at the Trojan Thanksgiving Classic, held at Virginia State University, as Nyack took on Elizabeth City State University.
The Lady Warriors would split the weekend with Nyack defeating ECSU by a final score of 72-64 to improve their overall standing to 3-3 on the season.
How It Happened:
Closing out the weekend with a strong finish, senior Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD) earned 22 points across 4 quarters of play, scoring 9 points in the 1st, 6 in the 2nd, 4 in the 3rd and 3 in the fourth. Sophomore Kelli Smoot (Baltimore, MD) exploded in the 4th quarter landing 11 points for the Warriors and securing their win over Elizabeth City State University. Smoot contributed a total of 15 points throughout the entirety of the game, the second highest for Nyack. Senior Mariah Brown (Stockton, CA) wrapped up the Warriors top scorers, earning 14 points overall. Brown divided her points across the 1st, 3rd, and 4th quarters with 2, 5, and 7 points respectively. Seniors Raven Makins (Laurel, MD) and Tori Trador (Seminole, FL) rounded out the Warriors score with 10 and 2 points each. The efforts of the team aided in establishing Nyack's 8 point victory over Elizabeth City State University with a final score of 72-64. With the win, Nyack progressed to a 3-3 overall record for the 2015-2016 season.
Nyack will return to Bowman Gymnasium on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 5:30 pm with their first home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against Caldwell University. Come out and support your Warriors!
