Nyack Women's Hoops travelled to face Virginia State in a non-conference match on Friday, November 27th. The Warriors, despite rallying from a 21 point deficit, fell six points shy of Virginia State in the final minutes. With the loss, Nyack regresses to a 2-3 record for the 2015-2016 campaign.
How It Happened:
Senior Jamie McKeither (Laurel, MD) tied one player from Virginia State with the most points of the night at 20; nearly averaging 1 point per minute played.. McKeither also achieved 1 assist and 1 steal for the Warriors as well as 5 rebounds. Senior Raven Makins contributed 18 poiints to the Warriors effort and a team high of 9 rebounds. Makins also manufactured the team highs in assists, with 5, and steals, with 2. Senior Tori Trador (Seminole, FL) and Junior Jessica Logemann (Seminole, FL) each added 10 points to the Warriors score as well as 5 rebounds and 4 rebounds, respectively, while Trador managed 2 assists across 33 minutes of play.
The Warriors came to a slow start, scoring only 10 points in the first quarter, in comparison to Virginia's 27. This would be the only quarter that Virginia State would out score the Warriors, but Nyack would be unable to rally past this deficit. Nyack would score a game high of 32 points in the fourth quarter, but would still emerge 6 points shy of the lead. Nyack managed to tie the game twice, but was unable to earn the lead at any point through the match. The game would conclude with a final score of 81-75.
Nyack will return to action with another non-conference match on Saturday, November 28th, beginning at 1:00pm. The Warriors will face Elizabeth City State. Nyack will return to Bowman Gymnasium on Wednesday, December 2nd, at 5:30 pm with their first home Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match against Caldwell University.
