Women's Basketball upended by St. Thomas Aquinas

Sparkill, N.Y.- The Nyack College women's basketball team lost their last game of 2016 to the St. Thomas Aquinas Spartans. The non-conference road match was played on Saturday afternoon at Aquinas Hall Gym and ended 49-92 in favor of STAC.

With the loss the Warriors drop to 2-9, while the Spartans improve to 11-3. The Warriors were led by freshmen Jocelin Wright (13 pts.), Yamalis Villegas (11 pts.), and Torie Eggers (10 pts.). 

The score remaind close during the first 7 minutes of the first quarter, before the Spartans used a 8-0 run to finish the first period with a 11-point lead, 11-22. The Spartans would continue their hot hand with another 8-0 run with the beginning of the second quarter to extend their lead to 19 with 6:50 to go. The first half of the game would finish with a score of 20-41.

During the reminaing two quarters St. Thomas Aquinas would continue to add on to their lead and the game would finish with a 49-92.  

The Warriors are back on the road on Wednesday, Jan. 4, as they travel to Philadelphia for a conference match with the Holy Family University Tigers at 6 pm.
