Nyack, NY – The Nyack College women's basketball team was upended by the Chestnut Hill College Griffins on Saturday afternoon in a CACC match at Bowman Gym. The loss drops the Warriors' record to 2-11, 1-6 CACC, while Chestnut Hill improves to 9-5, 5-3 CACC.
The first quarter saw both teams battling for the upper hand. The Griffins would be on the board first before the Warriors wouldd ahead with 5 consecutive points. Both teams battled back and forth in the first period, which eventually finished with a score of 15-15.
The Griffins would use a 6-0 run with the beginning of the second quarter to pull ahead. Chestnut Hill would hold on to the lead until halftime. The score was 32-25.
The Warriors would fight their way back into the game during the early minutes of the third quarter. A Yamalis Villegas three-point bucket would cut the Griffin lead to two, 34-32, with 6:48 to go. However, the Griffins were able to extend their lead back to 8 points in the remaining minutes of the third quarter.
Chestnut Hill would hold on to their lead and extend it to 12-points in the fourth quarter. The game finished with a score of 78-66 in favor of the Griffins.
The Warriors will be back in action this Tuesday when they travel to Georgian Court University for a CACC match at 6pm.
