Nyack, NY- The Nyack College women's basketball team lost their home match to the Goldey-Beacom College Lightning 64-89 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference action on Saturday afternoon.
With the loss the Warriors drop to 3-16 overall and 2-11 in CACC action, while Goldey-Beacom improves to 14-8 and 10-3 in conference play.
The Warriors enjoyedthe better start with a 8-4 run at the beginning of the first quarter. However, Goldey-Beacom took the lead with a 8-0 run in the following minutes, 8-12. The Lightning would increase their lead in the remaining minutes of the quarter to nine, finishing the first period with a score of 26-17.
The second quarter saw an equal shooting from both teams. Nyack as well as Goldey-Beacom were able to put 17 points on the board throughout the second quarter, so that the first half finished with a score of 34-43 in favor of the Lightning.
Nyack was able to cut the Goldey-Beacom lead down to five points throughout the first nine minutes of the third quarter, 53-58. The Lightning would finish the period with a three point bucket to increase their lead back to 8.
The fourth quarter started with a 12-0 Goldey-Beacom run to increase their lead to 20 points. The Lightning would hold on to this lead for the remainder of the game, which eventually finished with a score of 64-89, in favor of the Lightning.
The Warriors are back on Wednesday, Feb. 1, when they host the Clippers of Concordia College in a CACC contest at Bowman Gym. Tip off is slated for 5:30pm.
