Lady Warriors upended in tough home loss by the Concordia Clippers, 74-77

Nyack, NY – The Nyack College women's basketball team was upended by the Concordia College Clippers on Wednesday night in a CACC home match. The loss drops the Warriors' record to 3-17, 2-12 CACC, while Concordia improves to 5-16, 5-8 CACC.

Nyack was led by graduate student Tayelor McCalister who scored a game high 23 points. She was followed by freshman Bryanna Brown with 16 points.

The Warriors enjoyed the better start into the game earing a seven-point lead, 0-7, at the 7:52 minute mark. The Clippers would answer with a 9-2 run to tie the score 9-9, at 5:17. Both teams battled back and forth during the remainder of the quarter. Concordia would pull ahead by one at the 00:38 minute mark when Concordia's Amiya Rankins made two free throws, 19-18.

Concordia started the second quarter with six unanswered points to earn a seven point lead. The Clippers were able to hold on to their lead all through the first half. However, Nyack's Yamalis Villegas was able to cut the lead down to five with two made free throws right before halftime, 30-35.

The Warriors started the thiird quarter with a 7-2 run to tie the score 37-37 at the 7:09 minute mark. Concordia would pull away again by seven, before Nyack answered a 7-0 run of its own to even the score 44-44 with 4:12 to go. The final minutes of the third quarter saw several tied score and lead changes. The quarter would finish with a one-point advantage for the Clippers, 53-52.

Concordia pulled away with a 7-0 run at the beginning of the fourth quarter to earn a eight-point lead with 7:07 to go. The Clippers led by eight points with 1:25 to go, before a Bryanna Brown three pointer and a Tayelor McCalister jumpshot cut the Clippers' lead to three with 31 seconds left in the game. Bryanna Brown would sink another shot from behind the arc to bring the Lady Warriors within one point with 14 seconds left. Concordia would convert both its shots from the foul line and Nyack had one more final chance to tie the score, but the Warrior three point attempt was blocked. 

The game finished with a score of 77-74 in favor of Concordia.

The Warriors will be back in action this upcoming Saturday when they are on the road to Delaware facing the Wilmington University Wildcats at 1:00pm.
