Women's Basketball Defeated by Caldwell Cougars, 60-82

Nyack, N.Y. -- A twelve-point halftime deficit thanks to a hot-shooting Caldwell team proved to be a deciding margin against the Caldwell University women's basketball team, as the Warriors were unable to fight back in the second half to the tune of an 82-60 defeat.

Offensively, the Warriors had one player score in double figures, Torie Eggers. Eggers sank 13 points as she led the Warriors scorers. Jocelin Wright, Janae Bailey and Jailyn Green clutched 8 points each. Yamalis Villegas, Tayelor McCalister, and Bryanna Brown chipped in 6 each, while Kelli Smoot and and Alison Rozzi each added 2 and 3 points respectively. Jocelin Wright pulled down a team-high of 8 rebounds for the night.

Over the first few minutes of the game, Bailey and McCalister combined to score 6 points to put the Warriors up by 6, 0-6. However, the Cougars slowly began the find shooting in the contest from the perimeter, and a 50-27 run over towards the ending of the second half.

The Cougars held the lead for the duration of the second half, but the Warriors still pressed on to collect 33 points in the second half. The gap stood despite the Warriors's fight to post up 13 points in the third quarter and 20 points in the fourth quarter.

From there, the Cougars posted another half-defining period, sprinting out to restore some distance at 82-60 with 1:30 remaining.

The Warriors look to rebound on Saturday, Feb. 11th when they travel to University of the Sciences for a 1:00 pm CACC contest.
