Orangeburg, NY. – The Nyack College women's basketball team found itself neck and neck most of the day, as it dropped its CACC game 61-64 to the Dominican College Chargers.
Nyack scored the first two baskets of the contest at the hands of graduate student point guard Tayelor McCalister. Kelli Smoot found success on the scoreboard early, knocking down seven points in the first half, finishing the contest with fifteen total. Jailyn Green found success as well in leading the first half in rebounds with four rebounds, finishing the contest with six total.
However, despite those efforts the Chargers still maintained control throughout the first half, stringing together enough points that guided Dominican to a close 27-24 halftime lead.
The Warriors played determined in the second half, shooting 39.4 percent as well holding the advantage in rebounds (16-10). Kelli Smoot scored 8 of her 15 points in the half.
Nyack cut the deficit versus Dominican to within one possession several times in the half.
However, Nyack was unable to stifle the core group of Chargers who led the way for Dominican throughout the contest.
The Warriors will look to bounce back Tuesday, February 21st, as they take on Felician Univeristy at 5:30 p.m.
