The Nyack College women's basketball team traveled to Bloomfield College to take on the Bears in a conference matchup on Thursday night. The Warriors ended the game in a 50-75 loss to the Bears, bringing their CACC record to 2-13.
The game started off with Nyack keeping it close in the first few minutes, as the teams traded scores. Jocelin Wright scored on a 3-pointer to bring the Warriors within two points, but Bloomfield went on an offensive surge that extended their lead. The Warriors' defense kept the Bears scoreless for the first three minutes of the second quarter, while Bryanna Brown scored right away on a jump shot. Nyack's offense was held to short-range shots and free throws, and went into halftime down by 18.
In the second half, the Warriors went on a short scoring run in the third quarter as Brown grabbed a steal and gave the offense a boost by making two free throws, which Wright followed up with a layup. Even as the Bears offense kept pushing, Nyack kept pressing back as well. A defensive rebound by Khadijah Hickson led to an Audrey Matteson layup in the fourth quarter, and a minute later, Japria Karim-Duvall and Torie Eggers scored on consecutive 3-point shots. Imani Dawson scored on a layup in the final seconds, but the Warriors were not able to overcome the deficit and ended the game in a loss.
Bryanna Brown and Jocelin Wright both scored 12 points for the Warriors offense. Wright, Japria Karim-Duvall, and Janae Bailey all had 5 rebounds, and Yamalis Villegas added 3 assists.
