Warriors Drop to STAC Despite Late Comeback Rally

Sparkill, NY - The Nyack College women's basketball team started their 2018-19 season with the STAC Basketball Classic at St. Thomas Aquinas College. In their opening game on Saturday night the Warriors squred off with the hosts St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans in NCAA matchup.

Game Summary:

  • both teams battled back and forth in the opening minutes before the Spartans used a 15-1 run to run away with the game
  • Nyack came back within five in the second quarter, before STAC extended their lead to 21 with the halftime whistle
  • the Spartans defended their lead throughout the third quarter taking a 22-point lead into the fourth
  • however, the Warriors were not done yet rallying back in the final quarter to cut the Spartan lead down to 10 with 13 seconds remaining the game

Key Performances
Senior Japria Karim-Duvall led the Warriors with 22 points shooting 7 for 15 from the field and 50% from behind the arc, while adding seven rebounds.

Nyack will have a quick turnaround and will be back in action for their second game today in the STAC Basketball Classic when they sqaure off with the Mercy College Mavericks at 1:00pm.
