The Nyack College women's basketball team faced off against Felician University in an away conference game. In a close game that went to overtime, the Warriors were able to push through and secure the win making it a successful weekend for both of Nyack's basketball teams with a sweep over Felician.
In the first quarter, the Warriors managed to put themselves on the scoreboard before Felician on a layup by Kyla Given but was combated on a layup by Felician. From there the quarter included many tied scores where both teams managed to take the lead at times. At the end of the quarter, Felician had the upper hand with a totaled score of 8-14.
In the second quarter, Felician started to add onto their lead creating a bigger gap where the Warriors would have to push harder to bridge. With eight minutes still left in the quarter, Felician was ten points ahead of the Warriors and the opposing team continued to push ahead. The Warriors fell behind too far to make a difference in the quarter and ended with a total score of 41-25.
In the third quarter, the Warriors began to perservere even though they were at a disadvantage. They were the first to score in this quarter on two free throws by Sarah Wilson which propelled them into the rest of the quarter. Throughout the quarter, the Warriors worked hard to bridge the point gap. Slowly but surely, with 36 seconds left in the game they were only three points behind Felician. They finished the quarter with a total score of 49-51.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors first shot, a layup by Sarah Wilson, tied up the game at 51-51. From there, the Warriors managed to take the lead and keep it steady. Felician came close at times, but wasn't able to tie up the score until there was one minute left in the game where the battle began to secure the win. Both team traded possession but ended the quarter with a totaled score of 67-67 pushing the game into over time.
Over time was only five minutes long and Felician was the first to sink a shot putting them in the lead. Nyack managed to tie up the score at 71-71 on a three point jump shot by Khadijah Hickson. There were several more tied scores and traded possessions but the Warriors managed to take the lead and secure the win with a final score of 82-87.
Overall, the Warriors were 34.8% from the field, 27.3% from behind the arc, and 71.8% in free throws. Offensively, Kyla Given led the team with 21 points. Defensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 8 rebounds, 1 block, and 3 steals.
