The Nyack College Warriors faced off in a home conference game against Dominican College. The game was close in numbers but Nyack's offense was able to prevail in the third quarter giving them an edge over Dominican and securing the win.
In the first quarter of the game, Dominican took the lead early on and managed to stay ahead of Nyack throughout the whole quarter. Dominican's numbers prevailed from behind the three point line with a 33.3% as compared to Nyack's 0%. The score totaled out at 16-11 by the end of the quarter.
In the second quarter of the game, Nyack started out with a disadvantage but managed to come back from a nine point deficit. With one minute left in the quarter, Jasmine Cruse made a layup that put Nyack ahead of Dominican. From there, the Warriors managed to take off and ended the quarter in the lead with a total score of 25-27. The Warriors managed to increase their three point and their field numbers giving them an edge over Dominican in this quarter.
In the third quarter of the game, the Warriors took the momentum from the last quarter and used it to propell them into this one. Dominican tied up the score early on, but the Warriors managed to come back and take the lead again which they were able to sustain throughout the whole quarter. They ended the quarter scoring a total of 15 more points as compared to Dominican's 13, which gave helped them stay ahead in the next quarter. The totaled score at the end of this quarter was 38-42.
In the fourth quarter of the game, the Warriors went head to head with Dominican, where both teams scored a total of 24 points in this quarter. Because the Warriors had prevailed over Dominican in the last two quarters, they set themselves up for succcess in the last. The Warriors created a large point gap forcing Dominican to catch up. They managed to bridge some of the point gap but they were unable to produce anything promising, securing Nyack's win with a final score of 62-66.
Overall, Nyack was 35.8% from the field, 12.5% from behind the arc, and 65% in free throws. Offensively, Kyla Given led the team with 20 total points. Defensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 12 rebounds, 2 blocks, and one steal.
