Warriors Women's Basketball Falls to Queens College in First Game of the New Year

The Nyack College Warriors kicked off the new year with a non conerence game against Queens College. The Warriors started off strong but lost momentum throughout the game eventually losing with a final score of 48-78. 

In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors started off strong being the first to put themselves on the scoreboard. From there, both teams were evenly matched tieing up the score several times. At the end of the quarter the score totaled out at 14-15 with Queens in the lead by only one point. 

In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors started to fall behind. No shots were made until after the first two minutes of the quarter when Queens made a three-pointer creating a point gap. From there, the opposing team continued to make their shots forcing Nyack to play defense. The Warriors only mnaged to score six points for this quarter as compared to Queen's 22. The score totaled out at 20-37. 

In the third quarter of the game, Queens began with a seventeen point lead making it hard for the Warriors to see a win at the end. The Warriors managed to increase their numbers from the last quarter but it wasn't even to bridge the point gap as Queens stayed consistent. The score at the end of this quarter totaled out at 31-59.

In the fourth quarter of the game, the Warriors managed to pick of their pace scoring only two points less than Queens for this quarter. Although the Warriors fought to come back, with six minutes left in the game they found themselves in a thirty-point deficit. The game ended with a loss for the Warriors. 

Overall, Nyack was 16.7% from the field, as compared to Queen's 52.6%. The Warriors were also 25.9% from behind the arc and 55.9% in free throws. Offensively, Sarah Wilson led the Warriors with 11 points. Defensively, Brianna Williams had a total of six rebounds.
