The Nyack College women's basketball team faced off in a home conference game today against the South Division leaders Holy Family University. The Warriros fought throughout the game for the win on their record, but in the end they were unable to pull through losing with a final score of 74-60.
In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors fell behind quickly as Holy Family came out of the gate strong. At the halfway mark in the quarter, the Warriors found themselves ten points beind the Tigers and the opposing team continued to add to their score putting the Warriors further from catching up. The quarter ended with a total score of 22-8.
In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors increased their field, three point, and free throw percentages which helped them pick up their pace. Unfortuantely, it was not enough for them to bridge the point gap and with four minutes left in the quarte the Warriors found themselves twenty points behind the Tigers. The opposing team held this lead and the score totaled out at 44-23.
In the third quarter of the game, the Warriors fell behind again in the statistics as Holy Family increased their percentages. With three minutes left in the quarter, the Warriors found the point gap to continue growing as they were now thirty points behind the opposing team. The score at the end of this quarter was 68-36.
In the fourth quarter, the Warriors made a huge advance in their percentages helping them catch up from a thirty point gap. There was a whole four minutes of this quarter where the Tigers were stuck with a score of 70 and the Warriors added to their score. Although the Warriors pushed themselves in the end it was not enough to win the game.
Overall, the Warriros were 41.5% from the field, 25% from behind the arc, and 52.6% in free throws. Offensively and defensively Jasmine Cruse led the team with 13 total points, 9 total rebounds and one steal.
