Women's Basketball Sneaks Past Bloomfield With Fourth Quarter Comeback Rally

The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in a home conference game today against the Bloomfield College Bears. The game came down to the wire where the Warriors managed to push forward taking the win from Bloomfield with a final score of 62-58. 

In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors started off strong gaining the lead early on. About half way through the quarter, the Bears managed to catch up and pull ahead of the Warriors stealing the lead. As the quarter continued, there were many tied scores and traded possessions as both team battled to stay on top. Bloomfield managed to push ahead in the last couple of minutes being in the lead at the end of the quarter with a total score of 16-12. 

The second quarter of the game had a slow start with about two minutes where no shots were made. The Warriors started the second quarter of the game down in points and the point gap continued to increase as the game went on. Half way through the quarter the Warriors found themselves ten points behind the opposing team. With a bigger gap of points than when they started, the Warriors had to fight for their place in the lead. The score totaled out at 36-25. 

The third quarter of the game also had a slow start with two and a half minutes of no shots made, but the Bears were the first to add to their score. With the Warriors trailing behind, they spent majority of this quarter trying to close the gap of points. At the end of the quarter the Warriors were behind by seven points with a total score of 44-37. 

In the final quarter of the game and the Warriors last chance to earn the win, they fought until the last second for every point they earned. Coming back from behind, with two minutes left in the game, Jordan Rivera made a layup putting the Warriors back on top with a score of 55-54. For the last few strides of the game both teams competed head to head with tied scores and traded leads. With six seconds left in the game, Yamalis Villegas made a steal that propelled her team into the win. 

Overall, the Warriors were 33.9% from the field, 21.7% from behind the arc, and 60% in free throws. Offensively, Kyla Given led the team with 22 total points scored. Defensively, Jocelin Wright had 9 defensive rebounds, one steal, and 2 blocks.
