Women's Basketball Falls to Wilmington University

The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in a home conference game today against Wilmington University. In a game where the Warriors were behind for most of the time they made repeated efforts to take the lead but was unable to produce anything prmising losing the game with a final score of 85-76. 

In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors fell behind early on giving Wilmington the lead. Halfway through the quarter, Nyack found themselves ten points behind the opposing team. The Warriors efforts to bridge the gap were followed by the opposing team adding to their score consistently holding the ten point lead throughout the quarter. The score totaled out at 30-20. 

In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors started with a disadvantage and had to work their way back but for the first four minutes of the quarter the Warriors were unable to secure any points for their team as the opposing team dominated the court adding onto their score. Jocelin Wright was the first for the Warriors to bring them into this quarter with a three-point jump shot but at this point the Warriors were down by twenty points. The Warriors managed to come back and bridge majority of the point gap ending with a total score of 45-37. 

In the third quarter of the game, the Warriors were closer to catching up than before being only eight points down. Every time the Warriors made a shot, it was quickly followed by the opposing team. Both teams continued to make their shots throughout the first part of the quarter that kept the Warriors consistently eight points behind. With only a few minutes left, the opposing team took the reigns putting them in the lead by more than ten points again. The Warriors managed to catch up a little by the end and the score totaled out at 62-54. 

The fourth quarter of the game produced more of the same, with the Warriors lagging behind WilmU. The Warriors were unable to produce anything promising enough to secure the win for their record. 

Overall, the Warriors were 42.2% from the field, 39.1% from behind the arc, and 65% in free throws. Offensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 28 total points scored and 3 offensive rebounds. Defensively, Jocelin Wright led the team with 14 total rebounds.
