The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in an away conference game today against Chestnut Hill College. In a game that was relatively inconsistent for the Warriors, they were unable to find a lead and trailed behind Chestnut Hill for the entire game losing with a final score of 58-68.
In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors found themselves behind early on and were unable to produce anything promising enough to bring their score up. The Warriors were 23.5% from the field as compared to the opposing team's 41.2%. The total score at the end of the quarter was 10-17.
In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors significantly increased their field percentage to 52.9%, which helped them come back from behind. With three minutes left in the quarter, Jocelin Wright makes a three point jump shot quickly followed by a jump shot from Sarah Wilson, putting Nyack in the lead with a score of 27-26. Chestnt Hill managed to come back and tie up the score at 29-29, but then take the lead again not too long after. The score totaled out at 31-34, with Nyack trailing behind.
In the third quarter of the game, the Warriors started with a small disadvanatge being only 3 points behind, but with their three-point percentage dropping from a 75% to 0% the Warriors started build a point gap. At times they came close to tieing up the score, but the other team was continuously one step ahead of them. The total score at the end of the quarter was 37-42.
In the fourth quarter of the game, the Warriors had one last ten minute chance to come back from behind and take the game but with the opposing teams' 60% in their field percentage as compared to Nyack's 37.5% it was a challenge. With four minutes left in the game the Warriors found themselves 12 points behind and they were unable to produce anything promising enough to catch up.
Overall, the Warriors were 33.8% from the field, 28% from behind the arc, and 25% in free throws. Offensively, Kyla Given led the team with 11 total points and defensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 11 total rebounds, 2 steals and 1 block.
