The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in an away conference game against Jefferson University. Jefferson dominated every aspect of the game, making it difficult for the Warriors to keep up. Nyack lost the game with a final score of 40-79.
In the first quarter of the game, it wasn't long until Jefferson took off in points, scoring a total of 25 points in this quarter as compared to Nyack's 6 points. The Warriors were only 17.6% from the field and weren't able to put themselves on the board for three-pointers or free throws. Jefferson dominated in all three aspects with percentages in the 50s and 100s. The score at the end of the quarter was 6-25.
In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors managed to up their game a little bringing their field percentage to 42.9%, but it still wasn't enough in comparison to Jefferson's numbers being consistent. The Warriors doubled their points scored in this quarter but Jefferson stayed consistent with 22 ppints scored. The total score at the end of this quarter was 19-47.
In the third quarter of the game, the Warriors continued to progress finally out of the 0s for all of their statistics. Nyack managed to compete with Jefferson this quarter scoring 17 total points as compared to Jefferson's 18. Even though the Warriors were able to progress, they were behind by almost thirty points at the start of this quarter making their progress almost unnoticable on the scoreboard. The total score was 36-65.
In the final quarter of the game, the Warriors fell off the statistics again having a 0% in free throws and three pointers. The Warriors only scored a total of 4 points in this quarter as compared to Jefferson's 14. This put the opposing team in a position to take the game and adding another loss to Nyack's record.
Overall, the Warriors were 24.1% from the field, 9.5% from behind the arc, and 83.3% in free throws. Offensively, Kyla Given led the team with 9 points and defensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 6 rebounds.
