The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in their last home game of the season against Post University. Today, the Warriors honored their seniors Kyla Given, Yamalis Villegas, Madelyn Brodish, and Jocelin Wright for the time they have spent playing at Nyack College. In a game where the Warriors fought until the last second, they managed to come back from a twenty point deficit and bring the game into overtime. The Warriors lost in the last few seconds with a final score of 75-73.
In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors fell behind early on as Post dominated them in their numbers, with 41.2% from the field and 50% in three pointers as compared to Nyack's 20% from the field and 0% in three pointers. Post managed to take the lead early on and sustain it throughout the whole quarter. The Warriors found themselves lagging behind by twelve points by the end of the quarter with a total score of 18-6.
In the second quarter of the game, the Warriors managed to increase their numbers but it still wasn't enpug to bridge the point gap. With six minutes left in the quarter, Nyack foudn themselves 20 points behind. The Warriors weren't able to produce anything promising and the score totaled out at 36-18.
In the third quarter of the game, Post fell back in their numbers as the Warriors dominated, with 61.5% from the field and 60% in three pointers as compared to Post's 31.3% from the field and 33.3% in three pointers. The Warriors started their journey of catching up but by the end of the quarter they were still down by twelve points with a total score of 49-37.
In the final quarter of the game, the Warriors picked up their pace and decided to fight until the last second for the game. Nyack managed to keep their numbers consistent from the last quarter which helped them in bridging the point gap. With twenty-five seconds left in the game, Jasmine Cruse made a jump shot that tied up the ganme at 60-60. Nobody else managed to make a shot in the last few seconds and the game went into overtime. Throughout the overtime, both teams were neck and neck as they fought for the upper hand. There were several tied scores and lead changes, but in the end Post came out on top, leaving the Warriors with the loss.
Overall, the Warriors were 42.1% from the field, 53.3% from behind the arc, and 65.4% in free throws. Offensively and defensively, Jasmine Cruse led the team with 28 total points, eight defensive rebounds, two blocks and one steal. Senior, Jocelin Wright led the team in rebounds with 12 total.
