The Nyack College women's basketball team competed in an away conference game against Dominican College. In a game where the Warriors started of strong, they slowly faded as Dominican took the upper hand. The Warriors lost the game with a final score of 53-64.
In the first quarter of the game, the Warriors came out of the gate ready to play. They had a field percentage of 61.5% and a three point percentage of 75% as compared to Dominican's 35.3% in the field and 0% in three pointers. The Warriors quickly took the lead and found themselves with eight points before Dominican even put themselves on the scoreboard. At the end of the quarter, the score totaled out at 21-12.
In the second quarter of the game the Warriors started with the advantage but slowly lost it as Dominican's numbers increased. Nyack managed to score only eight points in this quarter as compared to Dominican's 16. Even though the opposing team was never able to tie up the score, they did manage to bridge the point gap giving Nyack a challenge for the next quarter. The score totaled out at 29-28
In the third quarter of the game, both teams were pretty evenly matched in their statistics. Both teams only scored seven points in this quarter. As the time ran down there were several lead changes and tied scores. But at the end of the quarter, the Warriors finished on top with a total score of 36-35.
In the fourth quarter of the game, the opposing team came ready to fight for the win. Dominican's field numbers increased by more than 40% contirbuting to their performance. The Warriors quickly fell behind as Dominican picked up their pace. With three minutes left, the Warriors found themselves down by ten points. Nyack tried to bridge the gap but was not successful.
Overall, the Warriors were 37% from the field, 26.3% from behind the arc, and 72.7% in free throws. Offensively and defensively, Kyla Given led the team with 15 total points, 7 total rebounds and 3 steals.
Up Next: The Nyack College women's basketball team finished in 4th place in the North Division of the CACC and will advance to playoffs. The Warriors will play in the quarterfinals game against USciences on Tuesday March 3rd at 6:00PM.
