WARRIOR LACROSSE DROPPED BY WILMINGTON IN HOME OPENER

HILLBURN, NY - The Nyack women's lacrosse team was downed on Wednesday afternoon at the Torne Valley Sports Complex by Wilmington University in a home opening Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference match-up. Sophmore Lauren Lebo (West Simsbury, CT) led all Warriors with three goals.

Inside The Game
The first point on the scoreboard came from Lebo with a wrap around goal just before the middle of the first half making the score 5-1. Wilmington then went on to score eight consecutive goals, with one being off a free position shot in the last twelve minutes leading up to the half time break.
In the second half, the Wildcats took control of the draw and immediately scored their 14th goal. After a Nyack timeout and three more goals by the Wildcats, the Lady Warriors came back with another goal by captain Lebo to have the score show17-2. With less than two minutes left in regulation and the Wildcats up 20-2, Stacey Cervantes (Whittier, CA) dished a beautiful assist off a fast break straight to Lebo for a quick stick goal. Wilmington returns with one last shot with 00:18 remaining before the game ends leaving the final score as 21-3.

"It was a disappointing loss. Specifically because of poor decision making on the field, as well as the fact we were not first to the ball. However, the immediate feed and the well-played assist and shot in the second half was a good snapshot of the team's potential."
