NEWARK, DE - In a tight matchup where both teams exchanged the lead several times, Warrior Lacrosse would get edged out on the road 18-15 by opponents from Wilmington University in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) match played at the Wildcat Athletics Complex.
How It Happened:
Nyack was led by freshman Victoria Silvers (Long Island, NY) who shot at 100-percent with a game-high 5 goals. Lauren Lebo (West Simsbury, CT) and Karis Walborn (Nyack, NY) added 3 goals apiece along with Karly Walborn (Nyack, NY) who chipped in with 2 goals respectively.
For the Wildcats La'Dae Boykin registeded 5 goals on the day. Rebekah McCurry dished 5 assists, scooped 5 ground balls, and forced 5 cause turnovers in the winning effort.
With the loss, Nyack drops to 1-5 in leages play while Wilmington improves to 3-2 in conference play.
Nyack would strike first with a goal by Nicole Pilkerton (Franklin, NH) with 29:30 left in regulation. The Wildcats would answer right back with an unassisted goal with 27:06 left in regulation. Wilmington took a 4-2 lead before Nyack came back and scored four straight to regain a 6-4 lead with 14:10 left in the first half.
Two goals by Wilmington gave them a 9-8 lead with 2:33 left in the half but the Warriors were able to go into the halftime break with a 10-9 advantage, getting back-to-back goals in a matter of 43 seconds by Victoria Lopez-Nash (Bayville, NJ) and Walborn (Karis).
Nyack would not go without a fight in the second half as Silvers scored with 1:17 left and teammate Lebo would put one in with 00:14 seconds left in regulation. Unfortunately time was not on Nyack's side as the Wildcats were able to hold on and secure the 18-15 conference win.
