Nyack Athletics Holds Annual All-Sports Banquet

The Nyack College Department of Athletics hosted its annual awards celebration on Sunday evening, April 26th at the institution's Boon Campus Center. Individuals from all 11 varsity teams were honored by their respective coaches.

It was a memorable night as the event not only marked the year-end accomplishments for the Warrior student-athletes, but recognized their thirty-five of their very own graduating seniors.

Each individual team also handed out its Most Valuable Player, Coaches Awards, Rookie of the Year, and/or Most Improved with the exception of some spring sports still in progress. All seniors received their Nyack Athletics memorabilia and student-athletes who earned a 3.50 gpa who were named to the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) All-Academic team during their seasons were also acknowledged.

Faculty Athletics Representative (FAR), Dr. Jonathan Gates, distributed the 2014-15 Academic Achievement Award to graduate student, Danielle Page (London, England), from the women's lacrosse & women's soccer team. Head Athletic Trainer, Penny Foland, along with her staff, Jen Coggeshall, and Hana Gross, distributed the 2014-15 Dr. John J. Sonzogni Jr. Memorial Comeback Award to senior Khalid Samuels (Mt. Vernon, NY) from men's basketball.

This year's winners of the Harold W. Bowman Character Achievement Award went to senior Josh Schoch (Sparrowbush, NY) representing men's soccer; junior Annah Aguilar (New Bloomfield, PA) representing volleyball; and senior Madeline Barbarino representing lacrosse/women's soccer teams. The 2014-15 Jonathan L. Gainer Four Year Sportsmanship Award went to graduate student Alex Schmidt (Horburg-Masslau, Germany) hailing from the men's soccer team.

The Roy Buckhout Super Fan Award is given out annually to the Warrior Fan who has shown tremendous loyalty in following Nyack College Athletics and was happily distributed to Heather Butcher, Resident Director of Christi Hall and Boris Regalado; an undergrad sophomore at Nyack College.

The 2014-15 Ernie Armoogam Warrior Award is given to one member of each team that best represents our Lord Jesus Christ to their team, opponents, fans, and community. The student athlete must have been eligible to participate in a varsity sport during the academic year for which the award is given and the individuals awarded were: Rebekah Lawler (Forked River, NJ) for women's soccer, Josh Schoch (Sparrowbush, NY) for men's soccer, Annalise Fee (Maspeth, NY) for volleyball, Anatoliy Ivantchouk (Moscow, Russia) for men's cross country, Danielle Wilson (Navarre, OH) for women's cross country, Janiece Williams representing women's basketball, Nicole Pilkerton (Franklin, NH) for lacrosse, Michael Langston (Flagstaff, AZ) for baseball, and Robert Rodriguez (Massepequa, NY) for Golf.
